Mrs. Hazel Cook Bruce, age 91, of Winder, Georgia entered into heaven on May 10, 2017. A daughter of the late Andrew Lyman, Sr. and Mamie Morris Burrell, she was preceded by her first husband, Mr. J. C. Cook and her second husband, Mr. Ted Bruce. Mrs. Bruce was also preceded by her grandson, Rusty Cook, son-in-law, Tim Bray and brother, Andy Burrell. A resident of Barrow County for most of her life, Mrs. Bruce operated Happy Hour Child Care in Winder for a number of years. Mrs. Bruce was a member of Northside Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are Children, Catherine Cook Bray, John (Judy) Cook, Jr. of Winder, Georgia, Cheryl Cook (Sam) Standard of Gray, Georgia, Edwin (Diane) Cook of Jefferson, Larry (Yvonne) Cook of Ft. Mill, South Carolina, Judy Cook (David) Bender of Winder, Georgia, Melinda Cook (Glenn) Burrell of Watkinsville, Georgia, Wanda Cook (James) Davis of Winder, Georgia, Sister, Frances Hall of Hoschton, Georgia, Thirteen Grandchildren, Twenty-three Great Grandchildren, Three Great Great Grandchildren, Step-Children, Ann Bruce Doster of Blue Ridge, Georgia, Ted W. Bruce of Marietta, Georgia, Kevin Bruce of Richmond, Virginia, Step-Brother, Grady Cannon of East Point, Georgia and a host of Nieces and Nephews.
The Family will receive friends Friday, May 12, 2017 from 5:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M. at Carter Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 11:00 A. M. at the Northeast Church, 2001 Cherry Drive, Braselton, Georgia with Pastor Lee Lovett and Pastor Chuck Cook officiating. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Flowers are welcomed or memorials may be made to Northside Presbyterian Church, 473 Jefferson Highway, Winder, Georgia 30680.
